Antalya’nın Aksu ilçesindeki caretta caretta türü deniz kaplumbağalarının koruma alanı ilan edilen Kumköy sahilinde yer alan, ‘çardak’ diye adlandırılan 500’den fazla kaçak yapı bulunuyor. Bu alandaki çardaklar ve kumsalın çöplükler içindeki hali, doğaseverleri isyan ettiriyor.
Antalya, Aksu ilçesinde batıda Aksu Nehri, doğuda Beşgöz Deresi arasındaki 1,2 kilometrelik Kumköy sahili, Resmi Gazete’de yayımlanan Cumhurbaşkanlığı kararnamesiyle ‘deniz kaplumbağaları üreme alanı’ olarak ilan edildi. Bölgede yıllardır ‘çardak’ adı altında hiçbir elektrik, su ve atık su alt yapısı olmayan kumsaldaki kaçak yapılarda yaz boyunca bölge halkı, caretta carettaların yaşam alanı kumsal üzerinde yaşıyor. Bölgede araştırma yapan Ekoljik Araştırmalar Derneği’nin (EKAD) raporuna göre, insan kaynaklı yuvalardaki yumurtaların bozulma oranı da çok yüksek düzeyde çıktı. Bu alandaki yoğun insan faaliyetleri yüzünden caretta caretta yumurtalarının yüzde 56.9’unun bozuk çıktığı açıklandı.
